Our Mission
At Black Heart Homes, our mission is to provide high-quality, equitable, and dignified housing while redefining what it means to manage property with care, culture, and community at the center.
We are committed to:
Serving with integrity, ensuring transparency and accountability in every interaction.
Uplifting tenants and property owners alike, through professional, responsive, and people-first property management.
Creating and preserving safe, affordable, and beautifully maintained homes, especially for those historically excluded from fair housing access.
Championing inclusive practices, including support for housing voucher holders, fair screening policies, and respect for all backgrounds and life journeys.
We don’t just manage homes — we build relationships, protect investments, and advocate for housing justice in every neighborhood we serve.Black Heart Homes Fair Housing & Income Qualification Policies
At Black Heart Homes (BHH), we are committed to providing safe, equitable, and inclusive housing for all. As part of our ongoing commitment to fair housing practices and compliance with all applicable laws, we proudly uphold the following policies:
Non-Discrimination Policy
Black Heart Homes (BHH) ensures that all properties we own and/or manage are operated in full compliance with federal, state, and local fair housing laws. We do not tolerate discrimination in housing based on:
Race or color
National origin
Religion
Sex or gender
Disability
Familial status
Sexual orientation
Gender identity or expression
Marital status
Source of income
Any other protected class under applicable law
All BHH team members, contractors, agents, and representatives are expected to uphold this policy and treat every applicant, tenant, and resident with dignity, respect, and fairness.
Income Qualification Policy for Applicants with Vouchers or Subsidies
In accordance with Maryland’s fair housing laws and source of income protections, housing vouchers and rental subsidies are welcome at all Black Heart Homes properties, subject to the specific rules and regulations of the program and property eligibility.
When screening applicants who receive housing assistance, Black Heart Homes will only consider the tenant’s portion of the rent when evaluating income eligibility — not the full contract rent.
